Lenovo Steals MWC 2026 With a Modular Laptop, Foldable Gaming Handheld, and a Fleet of New ThinkPads

Lenovo has arrived at MWC 2026 with its most ambitious hardware lineup in years, headlined by two concept devices that rethink what a laptop and a gaming handheld can be. The ThinkBook Modular AI PC features snap-together components — removable keyboard, swappable port blocks, and a magnetically attached second screen — while the Legion Go Fold puts a flexible POLED display on a Windows gaming handheld with detachable controllers.

The ThinkBook Modular AI PC Concept takes clear inspiration from Framework's modular philosophy but pushes it further. The 14-inch laptop features two plug-and-play interchangeable port modules and a second 14-inch display that magnetically attaches to the rear of the lid. Remove the keyboard deck entirely and the second screen drops in to create a dual-screen laptop — a use case Lenovo clearly sees as the future of productivity computing.

The Legion Go Fold Concept is equally ambitious. In its folded state, it's a 7.7-inch Steam Deck-style handheld. Unfold the flexible POLED display and it doubles in size. Its Joy-Con-like controllers detach and reattach to all four sides, enabling vertical and horizontal orientations. A folio case converts the whole thing into a mini laptop. Lenovo has also shown off a dual-screen Yoga Book with 3D capabilities.

On the production side, Lenovo announced five new ThinkPads including the long-awaited ThinkPad X13 Detachable — the first major update to its tablet-style ThinkPad in five years. Starting at $1,999, it features a bigger screen and a proper keyboard cover. The new ThinkPads also come in blue for the first time and earned a perfect fixability score from iFixit. The Yoga 9i 2-in-1 Aura Edition rounds out the announcements with a 2880x1800 120Hz OLED touchscreen and an angled canvas mode that uses its magnetic pen case as a wedge for more ergonomic note-taking.

New tablets include the ThinkTab — Lenovo's first business-focused Android tablet — and an AI-focused IdeaTab Pro Gen 2. The Legion Tab Gen 5 returns with an 8.8-inch display and a massive 9,000mAh battery, priced at $849.

Lenovo is signalling that the laptop form factor is far from settled. While most manufacturers iterate on thickness and chip upgrades, Lenovo is experimenting with modularity and foldable displays in ways that could genuinely change how people work and play.

Lenovo's take adds a second-screen twist that goes beyond simple port swapping.
