Storm Austen, the first named storm of the season, has left more than 19,000 homes without power across southern England and Wales, toppled trees onto roads and railways, grounded flights and collapsed part of Brighton's West Pier into the sea, with a second storm, Boelo, expected to bring more wind and rain on Saturday.
