Two leaders of India's Gen Z-led Cockroach Janta Party (CJP) walked out of Tihar jail on Wednesday, hours after a magistrate ordered their release, ending a week of detention for trespassing at a banned protest site in Delhi. Saurav Das and Ashutosh Ranka were arrested after they climbed over a locked gate at Jantar Mantar, a historic venue recently removed from the list of designated protest sites. They had been demanding the resignation of the chief election commissioner, whom critics accuse of manipulating voter rolls, an allegation the commission and the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) reject.
