Federal parliamentarians were urgently briefed on Wednesday on personal security by the AFP, ASIO, and Home Affairs following the alleged targeted attack on independent MP Helen Haines, which resulted in critical injuries and the amputation of both legs. The AFP warned it is prosecuting threats against politicians at a rate of almost one a week.
