The Florida Department of Highway Safety and Motor Vehicles (FLHSMV) has begun notifying victims of a data breach in which a malicious actor used compromised credentials to access driver license and motor vehicle records, including document images and other personal information. The breach occurred on September 4, 2026, according to a notice posted Friday, and while the department says there is no evidence the data has been misused, it acknowledged it may not have current contact information for many former Florida residents whose data was still stored.
