More than one in 10 UK university students now plan to move abroad for better opportunities after graduating, up from 7.8% two years ago, as competition for graduate jobs reaches a three-decade high, new data shows. Employers receive an average of 140 applications per graduate vacancy, up 14% from 2025 and compared with 30 per vacancy 20 years ago, according to the Institute of Student Employers (ISE).
