A senior US official has told the United Nations that a Russian military satellite, Kosmos 2612, recently maneuvered to within striking distance of a US-registered commercial satellite, describing the move as a clear sign the craft is a weapon. Russia's deputy UN envoy, Konstantin Vorontsov, countered that there was no cause for concern.
