An independent review by Dr Ian Watt has found that the Commonwealth procurement framework lacks assurance mechanisms to identify and manage unethical supplier conduct. The finding comes as the government extends its ban on new contracts with KPMG until March 2027 and tightens monitoring, but stops short of agreeing to stronger systemic oversight.
