Massachusetts General Brigham researchers have developed an artificial intelligence system that can predict a cancer patient's survival odds from a single facial photograph, according to a study published in Lancet Digital Health. The system, trained on more than 40 million images, estimates biological age and directly predicts survival outcomes, potentially offering doctors a low-cost tool to guide treatment decisions.
