A drone controlled by artificial intelligence has outperformed some of the world's best human pilots in a championship race, according to a study published Oct. 14 in the journal Science Robotics. The system, named MonoRace, completed laps at over 60 mph (100 km/h) using only a single forward-facing camera and an onboard computer, without GPS or preloaded maps.
