An Austrian woman in her 70s and a 69-year-old Swiss woman kidnapped separately in Niger in early 2025 have been freed after over a year in captivity, Libyan media reported on Thursday. The two women were flown to the Libyan city of Benghazi following their release, which was reportedly overseen by the deputy commander-in-chief of Libya's armed forces, Khalifa Haftar.
