World · Gambia to use $2.5m from sale of ex-leader Yahya Jammeh's US mansion to compensate victims

The Gambia's Reparations Commission has received $2.57 million from the sale of a Maryland mansion belonging to former president Yahya Jammeh and will use the proceeds to compensate victims of his 22-year rule, authorities announced Tuesday. The US seized the property in 2022 on grounds it was acquired through criminal proceeds and stolen Gambian public funds.
