Romania swore in a new cabinet on Tuesday, ending a months-long political impasse, after parliament backed a government led by independent diplomat Luca Niculescu. Niculescu, 55, won 280 votes in favour and 58 against, and plans to start work immediately with a large budget deficit at the top of his agenda.
