A US aerospace company has flown an unmanned, helium-filled airship from New Mexico to Japan and back, demonstrating a platform that could one day act as a cell phone tower in the sky. The round-trip flight between August and September 2026 is the most significant milestone yet for Sceye, which aims to use lighter-than-air craft to provide persistent connectivity from the stratosphere.
