Retail union SDA NSW has called on Aldi to scrap mandatory bag checks after a survey of 185 Aldi workers found nearly 97 per cent reported experiencing some degree of abuse or violence while working at the supermarket's self-serve checkouts, including threats that staff would be waited for outside after their shifts.
