Florida carried out its 18th execution of the year on Tuesday, putting 77-year-old William Reaves to death by lethal injection for the 1986 murder of Indian River County sheriff's deputy Richard Raczkowski. Reaves was pronounced dead at 6:12 pm at Florida State Prison near Starke, minutes after the execution began, as Governor Ron DeSantis continues an aggressive push on capital punishment in his final term.
