West African gold explorer Aurum Resources has recorded its strongest drill result to date at the Boundiali gold project in Côte d'Ivoire, with a 28.8-metre intercept averaging 22.92 grams per tonne of gold, including a core of 17.95 metres at bonanza grade of 36.57 g/t.

The results were part of the latest batch of eight diamond drill holes targeting the BST1 deposit, part of an expanded 150,000-metre drilling program at Boundiali. Another hole returned 57 metres grading 2.87 g/t gold from 192 metres, including a 5-metre section at 12.31 g/t. A further intercept of 22 metres at 4.7 g/t gold contained a two-metre zone at 45.86 g/t.

According to the company, the findings confirm the gold mineralisation system at BST1 remains open. The data will contribute to a resource update expected in the fourth quarter of 2026, which will feed into a definitive feasibility study for Boundiali due later this year.

The company is well-funded for its exploration push, holding a cash balance of more than A$95 million following a $52.5 million placement in mid-September. Aurum plans 180,000 metres of drilling for the 2026 calendar year, with 150,000 metres allocated to resource growth at Boundiali and 30,000 metres to start work at its Napié project, located about 100 kilometres southeast of Boundiali.

Aurum's total group mineral resource currently stands at 4.38 million ounces of gold.

Managing director Dr Caigen Wang said the updated mineral resource estimate would feed into a definitive feasibility study due late this year.

Analysis

Why This Matters

  • The high-grade intercepts could significantly expand the resource base at Boundiali, potentially improving the project's economics ahead of a feasibility study.
  • Aurum's strong cash position (over A$95 million) allows it to sustain an aggressive drilling program without near-term financing pressure.
  • The outcome of the definitive feasibility study, due later in 2026, will determine whether Boundiali advances toward development.

Background

Aurum Resources is an Australian-listed gold explorer focused on West Africa, with its flagship Boundiali project in Côte d'Ivoire, a country that has seen growing mining investment. The company has been conducting a large-scale diamond drilling program to define and expand mineral resources. The BST1 deposit is one of several zones within Boundiali, and the latest results are the strongest reported from the project to date. The company also holds the Napié project southeast of Boundiali, where drilling is set to begin in late 2026.

Key Perspectives

Company (Aurum Resources): The drill results confirm that mineralisation at BST1 remains open, supporting plans to upgrade the indicated resource. The company sees the data as a step toward a definitive feasibility study that could pave the way for mine development.

Investors: High-grade intercepts and a healthy cash balance are positive signals, but exploration success does not guarantee an economically viable mine. Shareholders will await the resource upgrade and feasibility study for a clearer picture.

Critics/Skeptics: Bonanza grades in narrow intercepts may not reflect bulk tonnage potential. The feasibility study will need to demonstrate that the project can be developed profitably given capital costs, gold price assumptions, and operating conditions in West Africa.

What to Watch

  • The updated mineral resource estimate for Boundiali, due in Q4 2026.
  • The definitive feasibility study, expected later in 2026, which will outline projected costs and timelines.
  • Gold price trends and any changes in Côte d'Ivoire's mining regulatory environment.
