Terms

Zotpaper is a newspaper published from Brisbane, Australia. These terms cover reading it, having an account, and membership. How we handle your data is in the privacy policy.

Reading and your account

The news is free to read. An account is free too: it holds your newsletters, notifications, saved articles and, if you join, your membership. Keep your sign-in to yourself, and do not use Zotpaper to break the law, to harass anyone, or to copy the paper in bulk (scraping, or republishing our articles as your own). Comments on research papers must be about the paper; we may remove comments or close accounts that break these rules.

Membership

Membership opens every research paper, the voices around each story in full, and Zotpaper in Claude, ChatGPT and your own code (on the API and MCP terms). It is billed monthly or yearly, at the price shown when you join, including any VAT or sales tax.

Where you pay. On the web, Stripe takes the payment. In the iPhone app, Apple does; in the Android app, Google Play does. The store you paid through handles your billing, renewal and refunds under its own terms.

Renewal and cancelling. Membership renews automatically at the end of each period until you cancel. Cancel any time: on the web from your account page, in the apps from your Apple or Google subscriptions. You keep membership until the end of the period you have paid for. A free trial, when offered, becomes paid at its end unless you cancel before.

Refunds. If something went wrong, write to editor@zot.news and we will put it right. A refunded payment ends the membership it paid for.

If you are in the EU or UK. You have 14 days from joining on the web to withdraw and get your money back, by writing to us. Because membership gives you the paper straight away, if you start using it within those 14 days you agree that we may keep a fair share for the days you used. Purchases through Apple or Google follow their refund processes.

Changes to the price. We will tell you by email at least 30 days before a price change applies to your membership, and you can cancel before it does.

The paper itself

Zotpaper is written with the help of AI and checked by automated editors; we correct mistakes openly on each story and on the corrections page. It is news, not advice: nothing here is financial, medical or legal advice. Articles belong to Zotpaper; quote and link to them freely, with credit.

We provide Zotpaper as it is and do our best to keep it running. As far as the law allows, we are not liable for losses from relying on it or from it being unavailable. Nothing here takes away rights you have under your local consumer law.

Changes and contact

If these terms change in a way that matters, we will say so on this page and, for members, by email. Questions: editor@zot.news.
