Meta has acquired Conductor, an AI coding startup that deploys multiple agents in parallel workspaces to help software engineers build projects, Meta confirmed to TechCrunch. Conductor founder and CEO Charlie Holtz announced on the company’s blog that the startup is joining Meta and said it had big plans for the next interface.
Holtz said Conductor’s core features will continue to work until early next year, but its cloud service will shut down on November 20, after which the company will begin deleting user cloud data. The startup, founded in 2024, only launched its core product last summer. Its platform deploys agents from labs like Anthropic and OpenAI into parallel workspaces, allowing engineers to work on separate parts of a project simultaneously.
On X, Holtz said he was looking forward to working with Meta chief AI officer Alexandr Wang and Nat Friedman, head of product at the company's Superintelligence Labs. 'They've been on an absolute tear, and I'm convinced MSL has the highest talent density of all the labs,' he added.
Meta confirmed the acquisition but declined to provide further details. The company has spent the last several months trying to catch up in AI services and has made a number of AI-related acquisitions over the past year, including Moltbook. In August, Meta launched Muse Code, its own coding agent, and recently reported that the service had surpassed 10 million users.
