The OnePlus 16, unveiled in China on Monday, is the company's most significant handset since it announced its exit from North America and Europe over the summer. OnePlus has historically targeted power users, and the 16 continues that tradition with top-tier specifications.
At the heart of the phone is Qualcomm's latest Snapdragon 8 Elite Extreme Gen 6 chipset, paired with up to 16GB of RAM and up to 1TB of storage. The battery is a 9,000mAh silicon-carbon unit, one of the largest ever fitted to an Android flagship, supporting 100W wired and 50W wireless charging.
The display is a 185Hz OLED panel, a significant jump from previous models. OnePlus has not yet announced availability outside China, and the device is expected to remain exclusive to the company's home market for the foreseeable future.
OnePlus's withdrawal from Western markets this summer was a major strategic shift for the brand, which had built a loyal following in the US and Europe through aggressive pricing and high-performance hardware. The OnePlus 16 is the first flagship to reflect that new reality, focusing entirely on the Chinese market.
