UK to invest £100m in AI biosecurity lab to counter biological threats
Chancellor also commits additional funding for cyber defences and AI safety as part of Budget
The UK government has announced a £100 million investment to establish a new national AI Biosecurity Lab (AIBL), aimed at strengthening defences against emerging biological threats, as part of Wednesday's Budget. The funding forms part of a wider package of spending on AI and cyber security initiatives, which also includes additional support for the country's AI Security Institute and cyber defence programmes.
