Microsoft opens voluntary buyouts to 60,000 workers as AI spending rises
Eligible employees in four countries have until early December to accept the offer, which excludes sales and data-center teams
Microsoft is offering voluntary buyouts to about 60,000 employees, roughly a quarter of its global workforce, as the company pours billions into artificial intelligence infrastructure while seeking to control costs. The Voluntary Exit Offer, announced Monday, is open to eligible staff at the vice president level and below in participating teams in the United States, Canada, India and the United Kingdom. Workers in sales, data centers and some engineering groups are excluded.
