Byron ranks fourth in NSW drink-driving rates as Farand, mayor cite lack of transport
The Northern Rivers town recorded 727.1 offences per 100,000 people, four times the state average, with Farand and the mayor pointing to scant public transport.
Byron Bay has recorded the fourth-highest drink-driving rate in New South Wales, with 727.1 offences per 100,000 people in the year to June, four times the state average of 181. Farand and the shire mayor have directly attributed the figure to a lack of public transport options in the region.
