Archdiocese of New York to Pay $800 Million to Sex Abuse Survivors
Settlement among largest in US church abuse cases
Survivors of sexual abuse by Catholic clergy have accepted an $800 million settlement with the Archdiocese of New York, their lawyers announced on Saturday, ending years of lawsuits. Each of the roughly 1,300 survivors is expected to receive at least $250,000, with larger payouts possible depending on the extent of abuse.
