Inside Singapore Airlines' $2.26bn cabin refit: the battle for premium air travel
Delays to seat certification highlight industry-wide supply constraints as carriers compete for high-paying passengers
Singapore Airlines revealed the seats for its $2.26 billion cabin refit, covering many A350s and its upcoming Boeing 777-9s. The redesign aims to reinforce the carrier’s position as a premium airline. The new cabins will feature curved first-class aisles, full-flat beds, and redesigned business and economy seating. The airline said the first A350-900 planes would start to be refitted by the first quarter of 2027, with the revised timeline reflecting what it said were industry-wide supply chain constraints and a delay in certification of one new seat.
