Google donates three AI agent infrastructure projects to CNCF

Google is donating three core artificial intelligence agent infrastructure projects (gVisor, Agent Substrate, and OpenRL) to the Cloud Native Computing Foundation (CNCF), in an effort to emulate Kubernetes’ success in becoming an industry standard. The move, announced by VP of product management Drew Bradstock in a blog post on Thursday, comes amid growing concerns about the security of autonomous AI agents, particularly their ability to execute code and interact with external systems. Bradstock said addressing those risks while making agents more economical to run and train requires closer cooperation across the underlying software and hardware infrastructure.
