Western Sydney International Airport will open to passengers this Sunday, culminating a design process that began almost a decade ago. The terminal's most striking feature, an undulating ceiling that scatters natural light, was inspired by a 2018 walk through a eucalypt forest on the site by lead architects David Holm and Cristiano Ceccato.
