EU announces dedicated sanctions office and crypto task force to address sanctions loopholes
Commission says office will improve coordination and crypto task force will design measures to close loopholes
The European Union will set up a dedicated office to strengthen its sanctions work and a separate task force focused on cryptocurrency sanctions to address circumvention, Financial Services Commissioner Maria Luis Albuquerque announced on Nov. 5; a Commission spokesperson said the idea behind the office was to continue maximizing sanctions’ impact on Russia.
