US Air Force drops survival kit from orbit in first-of-its-kind test
SpaceX Starfall capsule delivers liferaft and supplies from space in a demonstration of rapid orbital cargo delivery
The US Air Force Research Laboratory (AFRL) has completed a test orbital delivery of a survival kit, using a SpaceX Starfall reentry capsule launched from Cape Canaveral on October 20. The demonstration, part of the Rocket Cargo program, dropped an inflatable liferaft and standard nautical survival gear from orbit, marking a step toward using commercial rockets to rush supplies to remote locations within minutes.
