NT Health bans smart glasses in clinical settings after patient data breach
Chief executive Susan Bowden cites elevated risk to privacy; AMA NT backs policy
NT Health has banned the use of smart glasses and other recording-capable wearable devices to record or capture patients, clinical interactions or protected information in clinical settings, following a data breach at Royal Darwin Hospital that exposed confidential information of 12 pregnant patients. Chief executive Susan Bowden announced the ban in an email to all staff on 4 November, citing an elevated risk to patient privacy and confidentiality.
