Sea levels around Ireland rising five times faster since 2000, study finds
New century-long analysis finds acceleration consistent with climate-change-linked global sea-level rise
The rate of sea level rise around Ireland has increased more than fivefold since the beginning of the century, according to a study published in Ocean Science by researchers at Maynooth University. The study, the most comprehensive assessment of Irish sea level change over a century, found that the average annual rate rose from less than 1mm during most of the 20th century to more than 3mm since 2000.
