Socialist political commentator and Twitch streamer Hasan Piker has filed a $72.5m defamation lawsuit against his conservative counterpart Scott Jennings, accusing him of falsely portraying Piker as a ‘violent racist’ who advocated the lynching of Black people. The suit, filed Tuesday in US district court for the District of Columbia, centers on a ‘cropped, shortened, and rearranged’ video clip that Jennings played on his podcast in August.
