AIPAC-backed candidates won seats, but most midterm spending went to losers
AIPAC says it will stop endorsements and direct contributions after this cycle, though much of its spending already runs through affiliated PACs
Nearly two-thirds of the $84 million that the American Israel Public Affairs Committee and its allied political action committees spent during the 2026 midterm elections went to candidates who did not win, according to a tally by the Quincy Institute for Responsible Statecraft. AIPAC said it had counted some 234 candidates it backed, from both parties, as having won their contests.
