KAIST team says semiconductor technique extends life of anode-free EV batteries
Precision-patterned copper foil and ultrathin coating could enable smaller packs with longer driving range
Scientists in South Korea say they have found a way to extend the life of anode-free electric vehicle batteries, one of the biggest barriers to their commercial use. By adapting precision manufacturing techniques from the semiconductor industry, the KAIST-led team says lithium can be made to accumulate more evenly during charging, potentially leading to smaller, lighter EV batteries with longer driving range.
