Democrat shaping AI policy bought chip stocks after backing trading ban
Rep. Josh Gottheimer disclosed purchases of AMD, Applied Materials and Benchmark Electronics; spokesman says investments are independently managed
Rep. Josh Gottheimer (D-N.J.), a Democrat helping write his party's artificial intelligence agenda, disclosed new purchases of AI-linked stocks in October, months after voting for a bill that would prohibit lawmakers and their families from purchasing most individual stocks. The trades, reported in filings released this week, include shares of Advanced Micro Devices, Applied Materials and Benchmark Electronics.
