Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton sues OpenAI over ChatGPT harms
Lawsuit seeks wide-ranging injunction including blocking minors and court-appointed model evaluator
Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton has filed a lawsuit against OpenAI and its founder Sam Altman, alleging the company's ChatGPT product has deceived and harmed Texans by enabling mass shooters, encouraging suicide, and addicting minors, among other claims. The lawsuit, filed Friday in Collin County district court, seeks an injunction that would require OpenAI to block access for minors and submit new models to a court-appointed evaluator.
