Russell Brand appeared as a featured speaker for Maha Action, an American group closely allied with US health secretary Robert F Kennedy Jr, weeks before a UK court convicted him of rape and sexual assault. Maha Action’s Tony Lyons told Brand during an October video call that he believed the comedian was falsely accused and said: “We will stand up for you every week, week after week.”
