A modest three-bedroom bungalow in Maroubra with sweeping ocean views sold under the hammer for $7 million on Saturday, $500,000 above its reserve, as a developer and two owner-occupier parties pushed the price well beyond expectations. The result capped a mixed day for Sydney’s auction market, which recorded a preliminary clearance rate of 45 per cent.
