Far-right settlers establish 'Pioneers of Gaza' camp, push for return to the Strip
Encampment named Halutzei Aza draws activists near border as election campaign intensifies
Far-right Israeli settlers have established a sprawling encampment called Halutzei Aza, or the Pioneers of Gaza, just hundreds of metres from the Gaza border, demanding the government allow them to build homes inside the Strip. The outpost, set up overnight in the Simhoni Forest between the kibbutzim of Kfar Aza and Nahal Oz, hosts hundreds of activists including organiser Tchiya Chaim, a member of the Nachala settler organisation, who told reporters she wants to move her 11 children into Gaza. 'God willing, we will stay here until the government will take this settlement and put it into Gaza,' Chaim said. 'It's part of Israel, and we are going back there. On a basic level, it is ours.'
