New data from the NSW Coroner’s Domestic Violence Death Dashboard shows that almost all women killed in intimate partner homicides were killed by their abuser, and that nearly three-quarters of men killed by a female partner were the primary abuser in the relationship. The findings come amid ongoing debate over sentences for abused women who kill, highlighted by the case of Nirmeen Noufl, who received a minimum three-year sentence for the manslaughter of her husband after years of documented abuse.
