EU approves Hungary's €5.4bn defence loan, closing first SAFE round

The European Commission has approved Hungary's €5.4 billion Security Action For Europe (SAFE) defence loan, completing the first round of the EU's military readiness financing programme and leaving just over €21 billion available for a fresh round.
