Arizona voters back Prop 318, banning trans students from facilities matching their gender identity
Initial early-vote results give the 'Protect Girls Sports in Arizona Act' a lead of more than 200,000 votes; it also extends a school sports ban to private leagues
Arizona voters appeared to have approved Proposition 318, the "Protect Girls Sports in Arizona Act," with initial results from early ballots showing a lead of more than 200,000 votes shortly after 8 p.m. Tuesday. The measure makes schools and athletic associations vulnerable to lawsuits if they allow trans girls to join sports teams consistent with their gender identity or let anyone use a locker room, shower facility or bathroom intended for a person of the opposite biological sex.
