Flood defence barriers not activated during Storm Boelo, Renfrew residents left devastated
Council says predicted tide levels did not meet threshold to raise £10m barriers
Shops and homes in Renfrew were flooded on Saturday when water from the River Clyde burst through after Renfrewshire Council did not activate flood barriers despite an amber weather warning for Storm Boelo. The council said forecast data did not meet the threshold for using the barriers, but water levels rose far higher than predicted.
