GTA VI arrives into a thin November box office, one day before The New Hunger Games
Rockstar's game had drawn 6.45 million digital pre-orders worth about $630 million by Oct. 20, an estimate that already exceeds the year's second-highest-grossing film domestically
Grand Theft Auto VI goes on sale Nov. 19, one day before Lionsgate opens The Hunger Games: Sunrise on the Reaping, setting up the month's biggest entertainment launch as direct competition for a November cinema slate that is otherwise light on wide releases, according to Fortune. The game arrives after a Halloween weekend in which no studio opened a wide release and A24's documentary You Can See Everything took the top spot with $11.4 million.
