Western Australia's proposed three-way university merger between UWA, Curtin and Murdoch has suffered a significant blow, with Higher Education Minister Tony Buti conceding the government has not articulated its benefits, as opposition parties in the upper house move to block the plan. The Liberals have formally declared they will not support the merger, joining the Greens in opposition, leaving Labor needing to secure votes from the Nationals, One Nation and Legalise Cannabis to pass enabling legislation.
