German researchers solve 60-year chemistry puzzle with accidental oxoborane discovery
University of Würzburg team stumbles on a method to isolate molecules long thought too unstable to study
A chemistry puzzle that had baffled scientists for more than 60 years has been solved by a team at the University of Würzburg, who accidentally discovered a way to produce and isolate oxoborane molecules. The breakthrough, reported in Nature Chemistry, was led by Professor Holger Braunschweig and involved computational support from Tezpur University in India.
