Emergency crews in Catalonia are treating 83 people injured in a bus crash near Barcelona on Sunday afternoon, local authorities said. The Catalan medical emergency services reported seven people seriously injured, 18 with less serious injuries and 58 with minor injuries.
Spanish news agency EFE said the bus went off a narrow, winding road and fell down a 20-metre embankment in Fogars de Monclús, northeast of Barcelona. The exact circumstances of the crash were not immediately clear and are under investigation, according to EFE.
Emergency services deployed 23 ambulances and two medical helicopters, along with three joint teams of firefighters and medical personnel and three psychological support teams. Fire services also sent specialist mountain rescue teams, EFE reported.
