Appearing before the Independent Commission Against Corruption (Icac) on Monday, Charles Perrottet said he “made up” updates for property developer Jean Nassif. He is one of three Liberal figures alleged to have anticipated receiving $2m in prohibited political donations from Nassif.
Counsel assisting the commission, Peggy Dwyer SC, pressed Perrottet over his credibility, telling him the key to lying is “you have to be really good at remembering it”. Dwyer claimed Perrottet was not truthful and was “constructing evidence”.
Perrottet disagreed with the characterisation and denied lying to Icac. The hearing continues.
