At least 12 people were killed in Russian overnight attacks on Ukraine, President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has confirmed, adding that dozens more were injured. The strikes hit multiple locations, including the Odesa region, where thousands of people were left without electricity.
The attack occurred as European Union defence ministers convened in Wicklow, Ireland. Due to a capability gap in the Irish Defence Forces long-range air defence, a British warship and a submarine-hunting helicopter were deployed just outside Irish territorial waters to help secure the meeting, according to the Irish Times.
Meanwhile, a separate report indicates that at least five people were killed in Russian attacks on Ukraine, with the Ukrainian armed forces reportedly ordered to observe a three-day ceasefire as US envoys travel to Moscow. The US delegation is expected to later visit Kyiv.
