Learjet 60 crashes in Florida, killing nine
Duffy says FAA team heads to scene after Bahamas-bound jet crash leaves crater in residential area
Federal officials said the aircraft that crashed in a Florida residential area on Sunday, killing all nine on board, was a Learjet 60. Airport spokesperson Jim Reynolds gave its tail number as N722BD, and the FAA said the Bahamas-bound jet departed from Austin-Bergstrom International Airport in Texas. Transportation Secretary Sean Duffy said there were no survivors, and emergency crews responded to the scene near Military Trail and 10th Avenue North in Palm Beach County, where the jet erupted in a fireball and left a giant crater in the pavement.
